The Rock Hill Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team is responsible for handling the communication between subjects and law enforcement personnel. Members of the team are always on call. The unit has a commander and a team leader, followed by members of the team.
All members have had hostage negotiations training from across the nation including the SC Crisis Negotiators Association and the FBI. Each member also has to have active listening skills, be an effective communicator, and have at least 2 years in law enforcement.
The Crisis Negotiation Team’s goal is to respond to crisis situations such as barricaded or suicidal subjects and end the crisis with no loss of life.
